In the United States it seems that power companies are not offering meters with an opt-out option. If you are scheduled to get a meter then you will get one. Sending a Notice of No Consent is recommended by some to protect your rights as you fight to have the meter removed. With luck it may scare them from putting the thing on in the first place.
